A family garden

After living in the house for 9 years the clients had been defeated by their sloping, triangular garden. They wanted more space, especially for their daughter to play, as well as an area to enjoy the sun in the evening. The clients business interests in Japan helped provide a Japanese theme.

Richard's design solution used strong curves to open up the triangular shape of the garden. The design was not for a Japanese garden as such but took the ideals and materials to create a strong visual design. The use of bamboos and grasses combined with evergreens and strong architectural planting give the garden a strong visual character.
