Private Gardens

Richard believes that private gardens must be designed to reflect the needs, interests and personalities of the people who use them. To create a garden that is unique and tailored specifically to his clients requirements he starts with a consultancy visit to get a feel for the site and to talk to the client about what they want from the garden. After agreeing a fee the site is surveyed providing a base plan as well as highlighting features worth keeping and problems that will need a design solution such as the garden being overlooked, slopes or poor drainage.

Richard also asks the client to complete a questionnaire; from this a design brief can be produced. The brief along with the survey provide the framework for the design.

After producing an outline plan to be agreed by the client, a master plan is produced along with a planting scheme, these are used by the selected contractor to build the new garden. Richard can recommend contractors and likes to visit the site regularly during construction to monitor progress and discuss design solutions for any problems that may arise.
