A victorian garden

The clients had just finished renovating their Victorian house and now wanted their front and back gardens designed. They wanted to be able to use their garden for entertaining, it would need to be low maintenance, provide views from the house but most importantly they wanted a strong theme that would tie in with their interest whilst matching the character of their house.

Richards design for the back garden was based on the style of the pre-raphaelite artists particularly using flowing lines to draw the eye to particular features. Planting beds were used to divide the available space, lead the eye to focal points and provide year round interest.

The front garden was based on a geometric pattern taken from the clients favourite holiday destination of Mexico. Traditional materials helped link the design to the house whilst architectural plants with a hint of the exotic helped strengthen the Mexican theme.
